Building — and studying — AI-native medical education

We research the uses of AI in medical education along two axes: using AI to deliver the education itself — tutors, simulators, and learning platforms — and training faculty and learners in the emerging AAMC AI competencies, so the next generation enters practice as an AI-ready physician workforce.

Why this work

Medicine is shifting from a knowledge-gated to a judgment-gated profession: what once bottlenecked on recall increasingly bottlenecks on reasoning, communication, and the wise use of powerful tools. Our projects treat AI both as a subject of the curriculum and as an instrument for delivering it — always with human oversight, measured outcomes, and strict data-privacy commitments.

We welcome conversations with external collaborators — medical schools, education researchers, and platform partners — working on AI tutors, simulation, competency frameworks, or faculty development. See About the PI for contact and verification details.
