Background

Dr. Wang is a general internist and medical educator at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA (DGSOM). She serves as an Educator for Excellence in the Foundations of Practice course and has developed curricula in electronic health record use and evidence-based medicine for medical students. She completed medical school at Northwestern University and Internal Medicine residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Her research focuses on the uses of AI in medical education along two complementary tracks: building and rigorously evaluating AI systems that deliver education (tutors, simulators, and learning platforms), and preparing faculty and learners in the emerging AAMC AI competencies so that graduates enter practice as an AI-ready physician workforce.

This work is carried out with colleagues across DGSOM — including the Foundations of Practice course co-directors, the Dean's office for curricular affairs, the Simulation Center, and the members of the AI in Medical Education Council — and with external partners including an academic clinical-AI simulation platform team at Stanford and peer institutions collaborating on resident and student AI training.
